Ignoring Thunder…

Here in Louisville, every year the opening of KY Derby festivities is heralded by “Thunder Over Louisville” which is one of the largest fireworks displays in the nation. It usually lasts an hour at night with fireworks being shot off of the bridge that spans the Ohio River and 3 or more barges anchored in the middle of the river. There is an all day air show (and I can hear the planes now… sounds like we’re in London during the blitzkrieg) and the hoopla is beginning and will last until the Derby race has run. We, on the other hand, usually ignore these festivities as they have grown and grown and the crowds are difficult to navigate and it isn’t all that much fun… read curmudgeon. Anyway, it is definitely spring… 76 degrees this afternoon and we are off to play outdoors.

Here’s a pair from a couple years ago when I loved doing that blue and white thing…

Enjoy your day! Sophia is just too cute in her hat đŸ˜‰

I’m jealous of your weather too – Denver is currently suffering through what is hopefully the last gasp of winter this weekend. Snow in mid April – moisture is good though..

Sofia is a HOOT. And those pots are luscious. Wish I could sit there and watch you decorate for a few hours, the things I could learn…

Love the bonnet (and Sofia) and the vases. Would love the weather, too, if only.

Sofia looks delighted to be off to play in her summer wear.
The blue and white thing is a beautiful thing.

I lived in Louisville for a short while; never did go to the Derby, but went to the Thunder event and heard great things before it and then was a bit disappointed during the event. I agree, lots of people. I think playing outside in the sun is way better.
