Trimming’s Afoot…

Or should I say trimming some feet. Making a bunch of bowls and spent the day trimming yesterday. I have two main tools, both from Dolan Tools, and they are practically worn smooth. I heard recently that they were selling them again so gotta get some replacements. I imagine it’s much worse for stoneware people or people that have grog in their clay because mine are pretty dull and my clay is smooth as a baby’s… ear? Anyway, here’s a trimmed foot pic and a couple trimmed bowls.

I’ve been totally digging Michael Kline’s black and white pictures over at Sawdust and Dirt lately and decided to be a bit of a copycat and post one myself. Here’s the little bug with 0 saturation…

How do you get your signature symbol on the bottom of a piece?

hey gary… sorry about your internet connection, i use a resist for that as
      well as some decoration

Lovely atmospheric photo of Sofia! BTW, I’m new to using a griffin grip and noticed yours in the first photo. Are you supporting the bowl from the INSIDE during trimming the foot or was it just placed on the grip that way for the photo?

    • jim Says:

      Hi Miri,
The bowl is dry enough to support it’s own weight. It is also heavy enough
that it will not move because of trimming. On smaller ones though, I have to
secure it with those pads that come with the grip.
